CAPITALS (9-3-1) at HURRICANES (3-6-4)

7 p.m. ET; CSN-DC+, FS-SE, NHL.TV

Capitals team scope

Forward Marcus Johansson scored in overtime to give the Washington Capitals a 3-2 road win against the Chicago Blackhawks on Friday. Jay Beagle scored twice in the first period for the Capitals, the third two-goal game of his career. Defenseman Taylor Chorney played 13:31 in his season debut after sitting out as a healthy scratch for Washington's first 12 games. Backup goalie Philipp Grubauer will start. He has won his two previous starts, a 5-2 win against the Vancouver Canucks on Oct. 29 and a 3-0 shutout against the Colorado Avalanche on Oct. 18. Washington is 5-1-1 on the road this season.

Hurricanes team scope

The Carolina Hurricanes recalled forwards Derek Ryan and Brock McGinn from the Charlotte of the American Hockey League, and they will play on a line with Elias Lindholm when the Hurricanes try to end a three-game losing streak (0-2-1). "We need their offense," Hurricanes coach Bill Peters said. "[Ryan] will go on one of the power-play units. It needs a little boost. He's a good guy on the half-wall. We're looking to make some changes to make us better." Goaltender Cam Ward will start for the eighth time in the past nine games.
