MISSISSAUGA, Ont. - Swedish import William Wallen scored a pair of third-period goals Friday night, lifting the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors to a 7-4 victory over the Belleville Bulls and into a tie for third place in the Eastern Conference of the Ontario Hockey League.
Wallen, who missed a little more than three months of the season when he suffered a brain aneurysm last October, scored his seventh and eighth goals of the season a little more than two minutes apart late in the third as the Majors (35-24-1-2) won their fourth game in a row.
The win, coupled with Ottawa's loss to Guelph Friday night, moved the Majors into a tie with the 67's in the conference standings. Ottawa has two games in hand on Mississauga.
David Corrente, Mike Pelech, Kaspars Daugavins, Devante Smith-Pelly and Casey Cizikas, celebrating his 18th birthday, had the other goals for the Majors, who beat the conference-leading Bulls for the third time in four meetings this season.
Cody Alcock, Nick Palmieri, Brett Mackie and Nick Pageau scored for the Bulls (42-16-2-2) as Belleville saw its seven-game winning streak come to an end.
Philipp Grubauer had a tough night in the Belleville net, giving up all seven goals on 37 shots. Mississauga goalie Chris Carrozzi stopped 27 of 31.
