Walchuk scores winner as Chiefs down Americans 3-2 @NHLdotcom

KENNEWICK, Wash. - Dylan Walchuk scored the winner midway through the third period as the Spokane Chiefs defeated the host Tri-City Americans 3-2 on Saturday in Western Hockey League action.

Mitch Holmberg and Brenden Kichton also scored for the Chiefs (38-25-9), who finished the season as the fifth seed in the Western Conference, while Reid Gow chipped in with two assists.

Jesse Mychan and Patrick Holland each scored for the Americans (50-18-4), who are first in the West, as Brendan Shinnimin picked up a single assist to extend his point streak to 23 games.

Mac Engel made 30 saves for the win while Ty Rimmer stopped 22 shots in defeat.

Spokane went 1 for 3 on the power play as Tri-City went 1 for 5.
