Voltigeurs forward Marc-Olivier Vachon named QMJHL offensive player of month @NHLdotcom

BOUCHERVILLE, Que. - Marc-Olivier Vachon of the Drummondville Voltigeurs was named Quebec Major Junior Hockey League offensive player of the month Tuesday.

The forward had 10 points (seven goals, three assists) and a plus-8 rating to help the Voltigeurs win all six of their games last month.

Jonathan Hazen of the Val-d'Or Foreurs, Gabriel Levesque of the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies and Marc-Olivier Vallerand of the Quebec Remparts were also considered.

Nicholas Champion of the Acadie-Bathurst Titan was named defensive player of the month. He posted a 3-3 record with a 1.95 goals-against average and .940 save percentage in six games.

Adrien Lemay of the Lewiston Maineiacs, Kevin Gagne of the Saint John Sea Dogs and Maxime Clermont of the Gatineau Olympiques were also considered.

The rookie of the month honour went to Chicoutimi Sagueneens netminder Robin Gusse. He recorded two victories and two shootout losses in four starts. Gusse had a 2.82 GAA and .899 save percentage.

Adam Polasek of the P.E.I. Rocket, Jakub Culek of the Rimouski Oceanic and Trevor Parkes of the Montreal Junior also received consideration.
