Vladimir Tarasenko signed a one-year, $5 million contract with the Ottawa Senators on Thursday.

The 31-year-old forward had 50 points (18 goals, 32 assists) in 69 regular-season games for the St. Louis Blues and New York Rangers last season, including 21 points (eight goals, 13 assists) in 31 games after he was acquired in a trade with the Blues on Feb. 9.

Tarasenko had four points (three goals, one assist) in seven Stanley Cup Playoff games.

The contract includes a full no-trade clause.

"Vladimir's a natural goal-scorer," Senators general manager Pierre Dorion said. "He's a dynamic player who can score from anywhere in the offensive zone, as well as an underrated playmaker who's made a career out of driving offense for he and his linemates. An established performer in the regular season and in the playoffs, we're thrilled to add a player of his caliber to our lineup."

He is the latest addition to a retooled Senators roster; Ottawa signed goalie Joonas Korpisalo, expected to land the No. 1 job, to a five-year contract on July 1 to replace Cam Talbot, who signed with the Los Angeles Kings the same day. Ottawa also signed forward Zack MacEwen to a three-year contract July 6 and acquired forward Dominik Kubalik, defenseman prospect Donovan Sebrango and two draft picks in a trade with the Detroit Red Wings for forward Alex DeBrincat on July 9.

Selected by St. Louis with the No. 16 pick in the 2010 NHL Draft, Tarasenko has 574 points (270 goals, 304 assists) in 675 regular-season games with the Blues and Rangers. He scored at least 33 goals in five consecutive seasons (2014-19), including an NHL career-high 40 in 2015-16. He's fifth in St. Louis history in goals (262) and points (553), and second with 41 goals in the playoffs, 26 behind Brett Hull (67).

Tarasenko's 11 goals were second on St. Louis to Jaden Schwartz (12) during the 2019 playoffs, when the Blues won the Stanley Cup.

He has 64 points (44 goals, 20 assists) in 97 playoff games.
