Virtanen scores first WHL goal as Hitmen beat the Blazers 6-3 @NHL

KAMLOOPS, B.C. - Jake Virtanen scored his first Western Hockey League goal as the Calgary Hitmen beat the Kamloops Blazers 6-3 on Friday night.

Virtanen, the first overall pick in the 2011 WHL Bantam Draft, scored at 11:50 of the first period.

The Hitmen (18-16-3) also got goals from Jaynen Rissling, Calder Brooks, Brooks Macek, Alex Gogolev and Jimmy Bubnick.

Austin Madaisky, Jordan Thomson and Tim Bozon scored for Kamloops (25-10-3).

Brandon Glover made 29 saves for the win.

Cam Lanigan started, but was pulled after allowing three goals on 10 shots. Cole Cheveldave took over in the Blazers? goal to start the second period, stopping 16 of 19 shots the rest of the way.

Calgary went 3-for-8 on the power play while Kamloops was 2-for-9.
