BarrattDay5

Throughout the week, 2017 draft pick Evan Barratt will be blogging for chicagoblackhawks.com about his experiences during his first Blackhawks Prospect Camp.
Today was the last day of camp, and I picked up an assist and had a couple of chances in our 6-2 win over Team A during the scrimmage. Whenever I'm on the ice with guys of this caliber, it's always fun. I was around the net a lot and was out there for two goals that my team scored, so it was nice to show off all the hard work I put in throughout the week. I felt like I was even gaining knowledge on the bench in between shifts.

My biggest takeaway from my first Prospect Camp was learning the small details of the game, things I was able to make progress on here and other things to take into next season. Specifically, I'm going to work on my quickness and getting in and out of turns.
From here I'm going back to Penn State to practice with the team. Penn State is a newer program and everything they've done so far has been tremendous. I believe the coaching staff is one of the best in college hockey, and I will be only three and a half hours from home, so it was a no-brainer for me. They have a lot of great players and had a great season last year so hopefully I can add to that.
I'm taking online classes as well this summer, a Music and Film class and an Environmental Studies class. Then I'll go home for a week at some point before going back to school in the fall.
Overall, I've enjoyed my week here in Chicago. I was never much of a city kid growing up, but the city of Chicago is awesome. The organization is first-class in everything they do, and I feel very lucky to be a part of the Blackhawks organization.
As far as "90210" goes, Chad and I made it to Season 2 this week. I might continue watching because it's getting pretty good, but maybe we'll put it on pause until next year. Chad loves his Netflix, though, so he might keep watching.
