Victor Rask leads Hitmen to 5-4 win over Broncos with three-point night

CALGARY - Victor Rask scored a pair of power-play goals and added an assist as the Calgary Hitmen edged the Swift Current Broncos 5-4 in Western Hockey League action Wednesday.

Spencer Humphries had a goal and two assists for the Hitmen (38-23-3), who have won two straight games and six of their past seven. Greg Chase and Alex Gogolev also scored, while Brady Brassart had two assists.

Christian Magnus had two goals for the Broncos (23-34-8), who have gone 0-2-2 in their past four games. Brad Hoban and Richard Nedomlel also scored, while Taylor Vause had a pair of assists.

Chris Driedger made 18 saves in the Calgary net to record his 20th win of the season, while Swift Current goalie Austin Smith stopped 33-of-38 shots he faced at the other end of the ice.

The Hitmen scored four goals on six power-play opportunities, while the Broncos went 1-for-4 with the man advantage.

The Hitmen led 2-1 after the first period and 4-2 after the second. Humphries then scored at 7:28 of the third period to give the Hitmen a three-goal lead before Nedomlel and Magnus replied for the Broncos to make it close.
