Howden signs 2-year, $3.8 million contract with Golden Knights

Forward avoids arbitration hearing, helped Vegas win Cup last season

Brett Howden signed a two-year, $3.8 million contract with the Vegas Golden Knights on Wednesday. It has an average annual value of $1.9 million.

The 25-year-old forward was a restricted free agent and avoided a salary arbitration hearing scheduled for July 24.

Howden had 13 points (six goals, seven assists) in 54 regular-season games for the Golden Knights last season and 10 points (five goals, five assists) in 22 Stanley Cup Playoff games to help them win the Stanley Cup.

Selected by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the first round (No. 27) of the 2016 NHL Draft, Howden has 82 points (31 goals, 51 assists) in 279 regular-season games for the Golden Knights and New York Rangers and 10 points in 25 playoff games.
