"A new team means a new mask, and I'd like you to help me create it,"
Pickard said.
"I'm not very picky, but I want to represent my city and my team."
Pickard, formerly of the Colorado Avalanche, is starting with the blank canvas of a fresh white mask.
Fans can submit their artistry
on the Golden Knights website until 3 p.m. ET on Aug. 4. They can also use the hashtag #PicksMaskContest on social media. And Pickard wants to see everyone's best.
"All I really want to see is some creativity," Pickard said. "Knights, horses, castles, dragons. Drawbridges? I'm open."
Five finalists will be invited to a meet and greet with Pickard before a winner is selected. The Golden Knights plan to have a similar mask design contest with Marc-Andre Fleury.
