SWIFT CURRENT, Sask. - Taylor Vause scored the game-winner on a power play with 6:50 left in regulation to lift the Swift Current Broncos to a 5-3 win over the Red Deer Rebels on Saturday night in the Western Hockey League.
Vause notched his seventh of the season and ended a 0-23 Broncos drought on the powerplay while helping Swift Current reach the 30 win plateau.
Geordie Wudrick scored his 22nd and 23rd goals of the season, including an insurance marker into the empty net. The Broncos (30-24-1-1) also had shorthanded goals from Cody Eakin and Michael Stickland.
Red Deer (18-29-1-7) fought back from 2-0 and 3-2 deficits while twice tying the game with goals from Jordie Deagle, Carter Smith and Willie Coetzee.
A line brawl in the final seconds of the game produced most of the 157 penalty minutes handed out during the contest.
Swift Current goaltender Morgan Clark earned his first win as a Bronco as fifth on the season with a 16-save performance.
Rebels rookie netminder Cam Gorchynski dropped his first WHL start after yielding five goals on 21 shots.
