Varlamov Returns To Practice

CENTENNIAL, Colo.--Colorado Avalanche goaltender Semyon Varlamov returned to practice on Sunday after missing the previous night's contest against the Vancouver Canucks with an upper-body injury.
Varlamov said he was held out of the game by team doctors to help give his wrist a break.

"I've been pretty sore lately, so we took one game off," Varlamov said to ColoradoAvalanche.com. "I feel better now. I did some treatment the last few days with my wrist, and I'm feeling good."
Calvin Pickard got the start in the Avs' 3-2 shootout loss, stopping 29 shots through overtime.
Spencer Martin, who was recalled on Friday from the San Antonio Rampage of the American Hockey League, dressed in his first NHL game while backing up Pickard. Martin was reassigned to the Rampage on Sunday morning with Varlamov appearing to be back and ready to go.
Varlamov had played in six of the previous seven outings, posting a 3-3-0 record and .930 save percentage (stopping 186-of-200 shots against) in that time.

Two players that weren't on the ice Sunday were forwards Gabriel Landeskog and Nathan MacKinnon. Landeskog didn't skate for the second day in a row as he continues to recover from a lower-body injury, while MacKinnon took a maintenance day.
The Avalanche continues a season-long five-game homestand on Tuesday night against the Nashville Predators.
