Vandall, Roussel, Lalonde-McNicoll lead Shawinigan past Cape Breton 4-1 @NHLdotcom

SHAWINIGAN, Que. - The Shawinigan Cataractes used a three-man show to subdue the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles.

Pierre-Alexandre Vandall, Charles-Olivier Roussel and Cedric Lalonde-McNicoll combined for 11 points as the Cataractes downed the Screaming Eagles 4-1 in QMJHL action Thursday night.

Vandall led the way with two goals and two assists for Shawinigan (40-10-2-0), which extended its lead atop the overall standings to three points over the Drummondville Voltigeurs and Quebec Remparts. The Voltigeurs are the first team to reach the 40-win plateau, and have already clinched a post-season berth with 16 regular-season games remaining.

Roussel added two goals and an assist in the victory, while Lalonde-McNicoll had four helpers. Shawinigan finished 3-for-5 with the man advantage, while Cape Breton was scoreless in five power-play chances.

Michael Stinziani had the lone goal for the Screaming Eagles (26-14-1-1), who remain three points behind the Moncton Wildcats for first place in the Atlantic Division.

Gabriel Girard improved to 17-3-0 with a 27-save performance for Shawinigan.

Olivier Roy stopped 26 shots in defeat for Cape Breton.
