Gudbranson of Canucks suspended one game for boarding

Defenseman penalized for hit on Vatrano of Bruins in game Thursday

NEW YORK - Vancouver Canucks defenseman Erik Gudbranson has been suspended for one game, without pay, for boarding Boston Bruins forward Frank Vatrano during NHL Game No. 95 in Boston on Thursday, October 19, the National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety announced today.

The incident occurred at 6:13 of the first period. Gudbranson was assessed a major penalty for boarding and a game misconduct.

Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and, based on his average annual salary, Gudbranson will forfeit $18,817.20. The money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.
