Vancouver, B.C. - Vancouver Canucks General Manager Jim Benning announced today that the club has signed free-agent forward Marc Michaelis to a one-year contract.

"Marc has exceptional offensive instincts and proven leadership," said Jim Benning, Canucks General Manager. "We look forward to adding his skill and play-making ability to the franchise."
Michaelis, 24, appeared in 31 games for Minnesota State University this season and led the team in scoring with 44 points (20-24-44) in 31 games played. In four seasons with the Mavericks, two as team Captain (2018.19 and 2019.20), Michaelis accumulated 162 points (71-91-162) in 148 games.
The Mannheim, Germany native was named the 2019-20 WCHA Offensive Player of the Year. Recording 44 points this season, Michaelis ranked t-3rd in the country for scoring, t-2nd in points per game (1.42) and led the WCHA in goals per game (0.65), points per game (1.42), power play points (21), shorthanded goals (3) and game-winning goals (5).
The 5'10", 185-pound forward represented Team Germany in the 2015 IIHF World Junior Championships, where he recorded 2 points (0-2-2) in 6 games played.
