LOS ANGELES -- The Los Angeles Kings moved into third place in the Pacific Division with a 3-0 win against the Vancouver Canucks at Staples Center on Monday.
The Kings lead the Anaheim Ducks by one point and trail the San Jose Sharks by two points for second place.

Tyler Toffoli had a goal and an assist, and Jonathan Quick made 35 saves for Los Angeles (38-26-5), which is 5-2-0 in its past seven games.

"You can see the way the score ended up, we were really confident in our game tonight," Toffoli said. "We came out with a big two points. We skated well and just created opportunities and did a good job."

Anders Nilsson made 30 saves for Vancouver (25-36-9), which was shut out for the second consecutive game and has scored three goals during a four-game losing streak.

Toffoli gave the Kings a 1-0 lead 1:57 into the second period, scoring on a breakaway off a stretch pass from defenseman Jake Muzzin.
"Ty on a breakaway there, he's not going to miss those too often," Kings forward Tanner Pearson said.
Adrian Kempe, who Kings coach John Stevens moved onto a line with Toffoli and Pearson following Saturday's 7-2 loss against the St. Louis Blues, also had an assist on the play.
"We talked to that line just how much we needed them to play like they did earlier in the year. It could really balance out our attack, and I thought they did tonight," Stevens said.
Anze Kopitar made it 2-0 at 14:54 when his centering pass deflected off the stick of Canucks defenseman Troy Stecher past Nilsson. Kopitar has five points (one goal, four assists) during a four-game point streak.

"I think he's an elite player in the league on both sides of the puck, and we need him to be our leader in terms of the team game and leading the charge in the checking game and he's done that all year for us," Stevens said.
Pearson extended the lead to 3-0 at 10:53 in the third period, taking a pass from Kempe and cutting across the crease before beating Nilsson with a wrist shot.
"I liked our effort tonight," Canucks coach Travis Green said. "A couple breakdowns for goals that I wasn't crazy about, but that's going to happen and we didn't get a bounce. Things could have been different if we had gotten a bounce or two."
