Goaltender Jimmy Howard, who was pulled after allowing three goals on four shots in a 6-3 loss at the Toronto Maple Leafs on Wednesday, is expected to start for Detroit.
Jacob Markstrom, who made 20 saves in Vancouver's 4-2 victory at the Buffalo Sabres on Friday, will make his sixth start of the season and the first of his career against the Red Wings.

Forward Derek Dorsett scored two goals and had an assist in the win at Buffalo. He has scored three goals in Vancouver's past two games.
Detroit captain Henrik Zetterberg has eight points (three goals, five assists) in his past six games. Zetterberg was taken in the seventh round (No. 204) in the 1999 NHL Draft, more than 200 picks after the Canucks selected fellow Swedes Daniel Sedin (No. 2) and Henrik Sedin (No. 3).

Gudbranson returns after serving a one-game suspension for boarding Frank Vatrano of the Boston Bruins in a 6-3 loss on Thursday …. Wilson will replace Riley Sheahan on the fourth line. Sheahan and a fifth-round pick in the 2018 NHL Draft were traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday for Wilson and a third-round pick in 2018.
