Terry streak reaches 14, Ducks defeat Canucks for seventh straight win

ANAHEIM -- Troy Terry had an assist to extend his point streak to 14 games, and the Anaheim Ducks won their seventh straight, 5-1 against the Vancouver Canucks at Honda Center on Sunday.

"Getting on the scoresheet in this league is always special to me, but it's just more fun when we're winning," Terry said.
Terry is tied with Connor McDavid of the Edmonton Oilers for the longest point streak in the NHL this season. Corey Perry holds the Ducks record with a 19-game point streak in 2009-10.
Trevor Zegras had two power-play goals and an assist, and John Gibson made 26 saves for the Ducks (9-4-3), who have their longest winning streak since 11 in a row from Feb. 13 to March 5, 2016.
Ryan Getzlaf had two assists to give him six in the past three games. He has scored 999 points in his NHL career and would be the first player in Ducks history to score 1,000 points.
Nils Hoglander scored his fourth goal in the past three games, and Jaroslav Halak made 33 saves for the Canucks (5-9-2), who are 0-3-1 in their past four games.
"It's not going to be easy getting out of [this losing streak]," Vancouver defenseman Tyler Myers said. "We have to work together to fight our way out of it, nobody is going to do it for us."

Hoglander gave the Canucks a 1-0 lead at 7:29 of the first period when he weaved through the Anaheim defense before taking a wrist shot from the top of the right circle.
Zegras tied it 1-1 at 12:35 on a slapshot after the Ducks won a face-off in the Vancouver zone and the puck came to him above the right circle.
Zegras scored on a rebound for a 2-1 lead at 2:13 of the second period. Getzlaf shot the puck toward the net from the right circle and it hit traffic in front of the net before coming out to Zegras.
"This team is playing for each other, and playing loose," Terry said. "I know it's a cliche answer, but it's just a lot of fun being on this team right now."
Sonny Milano increased the lead to 3-1 at 8:55. Zegras spun and centered a pass with his backhand to Milano, who scored his third goal of the season. It's the first three-point game of Zegras's two-year NHL career.
"More than just the goals, [Zegras] was playing hard on the puck, he was doing the right things and he got rewarded," Terry said.

Adam Henrique scored an empty-net goal to make it 4-1 with 58 seconds left in the third period, and Sam Steel scored into an empty net with 37 seconds remaining for the 5-1 final.
"Things haven't gone the way we want to," Canucks coach Travis Green said. "But I will say that I'm confident that our team will turn things around."
NOTES: Terry has scored 20 points (11 goals, nine assists) in 15 games this season. He scored 20 points (seven goals, 13 assists) in 48 games last season. … Vancouver was outscored 19-6 on its three-game road trip. ... Canucks forward J.T. Miller had an assist to extend his point streak to eight games (six goals, four assists), tying his NHL career high (Nov. 21-Dec. 7, 2019). … Vancouver forward Tyler Motte made his season debut after recovering from offseason neck surgery and was a minus-2 with three hits in 12:15. ... Ducks forward Jakob Silfverberg returned after missing six games while in NHL COVID-19 protocol. He had an assist and took four shots in 18:01. ... The Ducks are 9-for-28 (32.1 percent) on the power play during their winning streak and 15-for-16 on the penalty kill (93.8 percent). ... Getzlaf has scored 17 points (one goal, 16 assists) in 16 games this season after scoring 17 points (five goals, 12 assists) in 48 games last season. ... Zegras (20 years, 239 days) is the youngest Anaheim player to score three or more points in a game since defenseman Cam Fowler (19 years, 331 days) on Nov. 1, 2011.
