The Anaheim Ducks have struggled on the power play, having converted twice in 18 attempts. Defenseman Shea Theodore has been recalled from San Diego of the American Hockey League in an effort to spark the power play. "We know Shea Theodore has that ability, offensive instincts and whatnot to run a power play," Ducks coach Randy Carlyle said at practice on Saturday. "Right now, he gives us that option of not taxing Cam [Fowler] and Sami Vatanen." Theodore had hoped to break camp with the Ducks but instead was sent back to San Diego when 19-year-old defenseman Jacob Larsson remained with Anaheim. But Larsson, who came to Anaheim after two seasons with Frolunda of the Swedish Hockey League, was sent down to the AHL in order to help him better acclimate to the speed of the game in North America and the smaller ice surface. Center Michael Sgarbossa is expected to play in his second NHL game Sunday in Anaheim's home opener. "We just want to distribute some of the minutes and we have some youth down there we feel is very close," Carlyle said, "and their talents match what we're missing right now, more on the offensive side of it." Goaltender John Gibson is expected to start. The Ducks held an optional morning skate on Sunday.
