VANCOUVER - The Vancouver Giants stormed to a four-goal lead and held on to beat the highly-touted Tri-City Americans 4-1 in Western Hockey League action Saturday.

Craig Cunningham, Michel Repik, Chris Cloud and Jonathan Blum scored for Vancouver (6-1-1-1). Colton Yellow Horn scored for Tri-City (7-3-0-0).

Tyson Sexsmith picked up the victory, making 17 saves.

Cunningham opened the scoring 54 seconds into of the game. Craig Schira took a point shot that missed the net but Cunningham banked the ricocheted puck off the goalie Kyle Birch. Cloud drew an assist.

Repik scored on a power play, taking a pretty feed from Bliznak at the side of the net and scoring his fifth. Blum also assisted.

Cloud scored to make it 3-0 for Vancouver just past the five-minute mark of the second. On an odd-man rush he beat Birch clean for his third of the season. Schira assisted.

With Blum going to the net, Repik let a shot go on Birch, and the puck went off the defenceman and in at 7:13.

Tri-City got on the board near the midway mark of the game. A bouncing puck was redirected past Sexsmith by Yellow Horn - his second of the year - with Jason Reese and Taylor Procyshen drawing assists.

Birch finished with 33 saves in defeat.
