Hradek on "NHL Hour With Commissioner Gary Bettman." The show is broadcast live on Sirius XM Radio and streamed on NHL.com 6 p.m. ET.
Team USA opens the tournament Friday against host nation Germany at the Veltins Arena, a soccer stadium in Gelsenkirchen where capacity was expanded to 76,152 to meet the demand for this landmark contest. The all-time attendance record for a hockey game was set Oct. 6, 2001, when the University of Michigan and Michigan State University played the "Cold War" game before 74,544 at Spartan Stadium in East Lansing, Mich.
Team Canada plays its first match on Saturday against Italy at SAP Arena in Mannheim.
