Tyson Sexsmith stops 12 shots as Giants shut out Oil Kings 2-0

EDMONTON - Tyson Sexsmith made 12 saves for an easy shutout as the Vancouver Giants extended their winning streak to four games with a 2-0 win over the Edmonton Oil Kings in Western Hockey League action Thursday night.

Brent Regner opened the scoring for the B.C. Division-leading Giants (36-3-0-3), firing a wrist shot from the point that beat Oil Kings goalie Torrie Jung to the blocker side.

Brent Raedke nearly tied it up for Edmonton (20-22-2-4) halfway through the second on a feed from Brett Breitkreuz behind the goal-line, but Tyson Sexsmith made the save.

Mike Berube put the Giants up 2-0 on a power play, jumping in off the point for a tap-in goal at the side of the net on a pass from Mikhail Fisenko.

Jung turned aside 31 shots for Edmonton.

It was the second and final game between the clubs this season. Vancouver swept the series 2-0, including a 6-0 victory in Edmonton on Oct. 22nd.
