Tyson Sexsmith makes 36 saves as Giants defeat Rockets 3-1 @NHL

KELOWNA, B.C. - Tyson Sexsmith had a stellar game for Vancouver, backstopping the Giants to an 3-1 victory over the Kelowna Rockets in Western Hockey League action on Wednesday night.

Brent Regner, Andrej Kudrna and Brendan Gallagher scored for Vancouver (15-1-0-3), which was outplayed, outhit and outshot by its B.C. Division rival. The Giants' win came one day after Vancouver suffered its first regulation-time loss of the season, 3-2 in Chilliwack on Tuesday afternoon.

Mitchell Callahan, with a breakaway goal, replied for Kelowna (12-9-0-0), which was the better team on the night, but couldn't beat Sexsmith more than once.

The Rockets, who visit Vancouver on Friday night, wore replica jerseys in honour of the 50th anniversary of the 1958 Kelowna Packers, the first Canadian team to play in the former Soviet Union.

Adam Brown made 21 saves for the Rockets, while Sexsmith, who was named the CHL's goaltender of the week on Tuesday, turned aside 36 shots for the Giants.

Last week, Sexsmith recorded his WHL-record 22nd shutout.
