Tvrdon scored twice as Giants snap Winterhawks 19-game home-ice winning streak

PORTLAND, Ore. - Marek Tvrdon scored twice as the Vancouver Giants defeated the host Portland Winterhawks 3-2 on Saturday in Western Hockey league action.

Jordan Martinook had a goal and an assist for the Giants (31-19-3), who have now won three straight games.

Taylor Peters and Tyler Wotherspoon scored for the Winterhawks (34-15-3), who had their 19-game home-ice winning streak snapped.

Adam Morrison stopped 47 shots for the win, and the game's first star, while Mac Carruth turned aside 26 shots in defeat.

Vancouver went 0 for 2 on the power play as Portland failed to score on five opportunties with the man advantage.
