The Drummondville Voltigeurs increased their cushion atop the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League's Central Division thanks to another big offensive performance from Sean Couturier.
Couturier scored twice for his third multi-goal performance in his last six games and the Voltigeurs beat the Montreal Junior 6-2 Tuesday. Courtier has 16 goals in 22 games this season, trailing only teammate Marc-Olivier Vachon (18) for the league lead. Vachon did not score Tuesday night but did have a pair of assists to give him 33 points.
With the win, the Voltigeurs (18-3-1) opened a six-point lead over idle Victoriaville in the Central.
Drummondville has won two straight and eight of its last 10. The Voltigeurs trail the Saint John Sea Dogs by two points for the QMJHL's overall lead.
Elsewhere in the QMJHL it was: Acadie-Bathurst 6 Baie-Comeau 5 (OT); and Rimouski 5 Moncton 4 (SO).
At Montreal, Alexandre Comtois also had two goals and added an assist for the Voltigeurs.
Gabriel Dumont had a goal and an assist and Philippe Bergeron had Drummondville's other goals.
Vincent Bourgeois and Jeremy Gouchie replied for the Junior (11-10-1).
Antoine Tardif made 16 saves for Drummondville, while Jake Allen stopped 35 shots for Montreal.
Titan 6 Drakkar 5 (OT)
At Bathurst, N.B., Remi Blanchard scored his second goal of the game in overtime as the Titan edged Baie-Comeau.
Yuri Cheremetiev, Julien Tremblay, Jonathan Lessard and Derek Famulare also scored for Acadie-Bathurst (8-13-3), which came back from a 3-0 deficit.
Christopher Giroux, Gabriel Bourque, Antoine Letourneau and Guillaume Goulet scored for the Drakkar (5-14-3).
Oceanic 5 Wildcats 4 (SO)
At Rimouski, Que., Petr Straka scored the shootout winner as the Oceanic beat Moncton.
Patrice Cormier scored twice, while Charles-Antoine Roy and Patrick Delisle-Houde had the other goals for Rimouski (12-8-3).
Kirill Kabanov, David Savard, Devon MacAusland and Scott Brannon replied for Moncton (12-6-3).
