ROUYN-NORANDA, Que. - Philippe Cornet scored three times, including the game-winner, as the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies held on for a 7-4 victory over the Val-d'Or Foreurs in the lone Quebec Major Junior Hockey League game Tuesday night.
Cornet, an Edmonton Oilers prospect, put the Huskies (2-3-0-0) up 5-2 with his second goal of the game on a power-play at 13:05 of the second period. The 19-year-old completed the hat trick with an unassisted goal 2:39 into the third.
Cornet added an assist to complete a four-point night, while defenceman Dmitri Kostromitin added two goals and an assist in the win. Alexandre Beauregard and Pier-Luc Giguere had singles, while Jeff Desjardins chipped in with four assists.
Anthony Taylor led the Foreurs (1-3-1-0) with a goal and an assist. Aliaksandr Famin, Maxime Sauve and Simon Lacroix also had goals for Val-d'Or.
Mickael Audette earned the win with a 20-save performance for Rouyn-Noranda.
Sean Coulton stopped 32 shots in defeat for the Foreurs.
