Troy Rutkowski leads Winterhawks past Americans 5-3 in WHL action @NHLdotcom

PORTLAND, Ore. - Troy Rutkowski had a goal and an assist to pace the Portland Winterhawks over the Tri-City Americans 5-3 in Western Hockey League play on Wednesday night.

Rutkowski got the eventual game-winner at 13:04 of the second period as Portland hung on for the win.

Nino Niederreiter, Joe Morrow, Spencer Bennett, and Luke Walker also scored for Portland.

With the win, Portland (25-20-2-1) secured a playoff spot.

Tri-City (39-14-2) got goals from Neal Prokop, Justin Feser and Patrick Holland.

Americans goalie Drew Owsley made 12 saves before being replaced by Alexander Pechurskiy at 3:20 of the second period, Pechurskiy made nine saves while Mac Carruth stopped 38 shots to pick up the win.
