Jarry agrees to two-year contract with Penguins

Backup goalie will receive $675,000 per season in NHL

Tristan Jarry agreed to a two-year contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday.

It is a two-way contract for this season and a one-way contract for next season. The average annual value in the NHL is $675,000.

The 23-year-old goalie was 14-6-2 with a 2.77 goals-against average, .908 save percentage and two shutouts in 26 games (23 starts) with Pittsburgh last season. He did not play during the Stanley Cup Playoffs as the backup to Matt Murray.

Pittsburgh selected Jarry in the second round (No. 44) of the 2013 NHL Draft. He is 14-7-2 with a 2.78 GAA, .907 save percentage and two shutouts in 27 NHL games (24 starts).
