BRANDON, Man. - The Brandon Wheat Kings all-rookie line was in fine form Wednesday night.
The freshman unit of Brayden Schenn, Matt Calvert and Scott Glennie combined for seven points as the Wheat Kings beat the Red Deer Rebels 6-1 in the Western Hockey League.
Calvert led the way with two goals, while Schenn had a goal and two assists and Glennie chipped in with a goal and an assist. Schenn's marker was the first of his WHL career.
Matt Lowry and Tyler Dittmer also scored for the Wheat Kings, who improved their record to 7-2.
Former Wheat King Mark Louis, traded to the Rebels last week, replied for the Rebels, who were playing their fifth road game in six nights and slipped to 4-7-2.
Brandon netminder Joe Caligiuri made 14 saves, while Morgan Clark stopped 41 shots for Red Deer.
