ANA@ARI: Zegras nets signature lacrosse-style goal

At this point, maybe everyone should just start calling it "The Zegras."

Anaheim Ducks forward Trevor Zegras scored another lacrosse-style goal, this time in a game against the Arizona Coyotes on Friday.
The goal is named "The Michigan," after University of Michigan's Mike Legg, who scored the first lacrosse-style goal in the 1996 NCAA Tournamnent.
But now that Zegras has done it twice this season for the Ducks, there is a call to change the name of the goal, including one from from TNT studio host Liam McHugh.

McHugh was hardly alone. Hundreds of fans had the same thought around social media.
This time around, for good measure, Zegras shot a puck from between his legs at first, was turned away, corralled the rebound behind the net, scooped it up and pulled off the impressive score, wrapping his stick around teammate Sonny Milano.
"I kind of saw the play and made it," Zegras said. "There was nobody really behind the net, so I figured, 'Pick it up.' If there was anybody in my way it was Sonny, which was pretty funny. I don't think he even saw me, to be honest."
Said Ducks coach Dallas Eakins: "I think there's a time for it and that was certainly one. He had lots of time to get it done. I think what might even be more impressive was Sonny's ability to get out of the way and make himself super skinny."
Zegras scored his
first NHL lacrosse-style goal Jan. 27
at the Montreal Canadiens, but Bell Centre was empty because of COVID-19 restrictions.
That goal came about five weeks after he set up Milano for a goal with a
jaw-dropping, lacrosse-style pass from the behind the net
on Dec. 7 against the Buffalo Sabres.
Zegras again has lit social media on fire again with his unique skill set.
YouTube and NHL eSports star Nasher couldn't get enough.

ESPN host Arda Ocal also got in on the fun, making sure to tag it as a SportsCenter Top 10 play.

At this point, and with the ease the rookie executes the move, it's hard to argue against renaming it in the public consciousnessness. Either that or maybe Zegras should also take up lacrosse.
