This week, the top six NHL rookies who once starred for their country at the IIHF World Junior Championship (in alphabetical order):

Jonathan Dahlen, F, San Jose Sharks: The second-round pick (No. 42) in the 2016 NHL Draft was fifth with six points (five goals, one assist) in seven games for fourth-place Sweden at the 2017 World Junior Championship. Dahlen is seventh among NHL rookies with 14 points (eight goals, six assists) in 26 games for the Sharks. The 24-year-old is averaging 14:56 in ice time and his 15.4 percent shooting percentage is fifth among rookies who have played at least 20 games this season.
Jamie Drysdale, D, Anaheim Ducks:The right-handed shot scored three points (one goal, two assists) with a plus-3 rating in seven games to help Canada win the 2020 WJC, and had two assists with a plus-11 rating in a second-place finish at the 2021 WJC. The No. 6 pick in the 2020 NHL Draft has scored 14 points (three goals, 11 assists) in 32 games, second among NHL rookie defensemen after Moritz Seider of the Detroit Red Wings (21 points), and the 19-year-old is fourth in average ice time at 19:56 per game.
Dawson Mercer, F, New Jersey Devils: Mercer played for Canada at the 2020 and 2021 WJC. He averaged 7:18 of ice time in seven games at the 2020 tournament but played a larger role in 2021, tying for second with Canada with six points (two goals, four assists) in seven games. The No. 18 pick in the 2020 draft is sixth among NHL rookies with 16 points (eight goals, eight assists) in 30 games. The 20-year-old is second in face-offs taken (319) and third face-offs won (112).
Lucas Raymond, F, Detroit Red Wings: The 19-year-old left wing played for Sweden at the 2020 WJC (two goals, two assists) in a third-place finish and the 2021 WJC (two goals, three assists) in a fifth-place finish. The No. 4 pick of the 2020 draft leads NHL rookies with 10 goals and 28 points while averaging 17:27 in ice time in 31 games. His average of 0.90 points per game is the best by a Red Wings rookie to play at least 20 games since Sergei Fedorov (1.03 points in 77 games) in 1990-91.
Moritz Seider, D, Detroit Red Wings: The right-handed shot had six assists in seven games as captain and was named a top three player for Germany at the 2020 WJC. Selected by the Red Wings with the No. 6 pick in the 2019 NHL Draft, Seider leads NHL rookie defensemen and is third among all rookies with 21 points (three goals, 18 assists) in 31 games. The 20-year-old is first among rookie defensemen in blocked shots (54), fourth in hits (40) and second in takeaways (12), while averaging 22:26 in ice time.
Trevor Zegras, F, Anaheim Ducks: Zegras helped the United States win the 2021 WJC with a tournament-best 18 points (seven goals, 11 assists) in seven games, the second most scored by a United States player in one tournament (Doug Weight, 19 points, 1991). Combined with the nine points, all assists, he had in five games at the 2020 tournament, Zegras' 27 points (seven goals, 20 assists) in 12 games are tied with Jordan Schroeder for most by a United States player. Selected by the Ducks with the No. 9 pick of the 2019 draft, the 20-year-old is second among NHL rookies with 25 points (eight goals, 17 assists) in 30 games, and is first with three shootout goals (in five attempts).
