Vancouver Canucks

Brock Boeser could be out the rest of the preseason for the Vancouver Canucks with an undisclosed injury.
Boeser, who led the Canucks in goals (23) and points (49) in 56 games last season, missed practice Thursday but there was no update available at the time. Coach Travis Green announced the forward's expected absence after a 4-1 preseason loss at the Calgary Flames on Friday.
"He going to be out for a little bit, probably I would say at least a week," Green said.
The Canucks have four preseason games remaining, their last against the Edmonton Oilers on Oct. 9. They open the 2021-22 regular season at the Oilers on Oct. 13. -- Kevin Woodley

Montreal Canadiens

Sami Niku sustained a concussion in a preseason game against the Ottawa Senators on Friday and is out indefinitely.
The defenseman was injured when he was checked from behind by Senators forward Josh Norris during the first period of the Canadiens' 7-2 loss. Niku, who also sustained a facial cut, did not return to the game after the hit.
"He'll be out a little while," Canadiens coach Dominique Ducharme said Saturday.
Niku signed a one-year contract with Montreal on Sept. 24 after having the second season of his two-year contract with the Winnipeg Jets mutually terminated.
The Canadiens host the Senators in a preseason game on Saturday (7 p.m. ET; TSN5, RDS). They open the regular season at the Toronto Maple Leafs on Oct. 13.

Columbus Blue Jackets

Max Domi practiced the past two days wearing a non-contact jersey after offseason shoulder surgery, but the forward remains unlikely to be ready when the Blue Jackets play their season opener against the Arizona Coyotes on Oct. 14.
"I'm not going to say yes or no. I'm not sure," coach Brad Larsen said Saturday. "I think that would be pushing it."
Domi underwent surgery June 3 with an expected recovery time of five to six months, putting his first game in November at the earliest.
Larsen is pleased that Domi appears to be ahead of schedule but cautioned that a medical clearance to resume full training and practice is not imminent.
"We're not going to rush it," Larsen said. "I know he wants to come back, but we have to be real smart about this and make sure when he does come back he's ready to go."

Detroit Red Wings

Dylan Larkin and Tyler Bertuzzi have been cleared to play after each recovered from an injury, but coach Jeff Blashill said it has not been determined when either forward would play in a preseason game.
"I've got to get an injury report from the day before I'd say what our lineup is going to be tomorrow and the next day, but we'd like to get those guys in a game here soon," Blashill said Friday.
Larkin, the Red Wings captain, missed 12 games last season and did not play after April 20 because of a neck injury. Bertuzzi missed 47 games because of a back injury. He had surgery April 30.
Larkin and Bertuzzi are projected to play on Detroit's top line.
The Red Wings, 2-0-0 in the preseason, host the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday. Detroit opens the regular season at home against the defending Stanley Cup champion Tampa Bay Lightning on Oct. 14.
