Maple Leafs team scope
Toronto Maple Leafs rookie center Auston Matthews hasn't scored in 13 straight games after scoring six goals in the first six games of the season. Matthews did have four shots on goal and five steals in 20:44 of ice time in a 2-1 loss against the Carolina Hurricanes at Air Canada Centre in Toronto on Tuesday and the team isn't concerned with his scoring drought. "He's a huge threat out there all the time so people are going to respect him, which opens up ice for other guys," defenseman Jake Gardiner told TSN. Coach Mike Babcock said it's a matter of time before Matthews regains his scoring touch. "Auston's line (with Zach Hyman and William Nylander) was dominant against Carolina," Babcock said. "Lots of chances. You do good things in life, good things happen, sometimes not as quick as you want." Jhonas Enroth could make his third start of the season and first since allowing three goals on 17 shots in 26:18 before being pulled in a 7-0 loss against the Los Angeles Kings on Nov. 8. Enroth is 0-2-0 with a 4.40 goals-against average this season. The Maple Leafs play four of their next five and five of the next seven on the road, where they are 1-5-3 for the season.
Devils team scope
New Jersey Devils left wing Michael Cammalleri will return to the lineup on the top line after missing the past six games to be with his 5-year-old daughter, Chloe, who had pneumonia. "It got pretty severe and she had to be admitted to the hospital and that's why I originally flew back home [on Nov. 11]," Cammalleri said. "At that point the situation worsened over the next couple of days and she had to have surgery. We're very fortunate that it was successful surgery and we expect a full recovery. She recently came home from the hospital so it's good to have her home. It's your worst nightmare [as a parent], but we're fortunate that she's going to make a full recovery. I appreciate everyone's support." The Devils finished 1-3-0 on their four-game Western Conference road trip, losing three straight games for the first time this season. New Jersey is 6-0-1 at home this season; the last time the Devils started a season without a regulation loss at home through the first seven games was 1990-91 (7-0-1). The Devils finished 0-for-3 on the power play in a 4-0 loss at the San Jose Sharks on Sunday, and are 0-for-29 in the past nine games. "Let's be honest, our power play is struggling nowadays but I don't think it's bad," defenseman Yohann Auvitu said. "We're creating chances, but need to get those little rebounds into the net. It could change really quickly, and I believe it will."
