Letang son

With the NHL pausing the 2019-20 regular season on March 12 due to the concerns surrounding the coronavirus, NHL.com is taking stock of each of the League's 31 teams.

Today, a look at three memorable moments for the Pittsburgh Penguins at the pause:

Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Kris Letang may have been selected to his sixth NHL All-Star Game, but it was his 7-year-old son, Alex, who stole the show in St. Louis.

From staking a future claim to Sidney Crosby's No. 87 for the Penguins, to grilling goalie Tristan Jarry, Alex quickly became the internet's favorite sports kid.

Pittsburgh was completing its four-game road trip at the San Jose Sharks on Feb. 29, and defenseman Chad Ruhwedel's 89-year-old grandmother, Mary Bovee, made sure she was in the stands for her first NHL game to watch her grandson play.

Every year, the Penguins take their holiday video to the extreme, reenacting a classic movie. This December was no different when they tackled "The Santa Clause." The acting may be pretty wooden (these are hockey players, after all), but it is brilliantly edited and always funny.
