Tokarski tops Pickard in battle of WJC goalies as Chiefs beat Americans 2-1 @NHLdotcom

KENNEWICK, Wash. - A showdown between Team Canada's top two goalies ended in a shootout on Saturday night, as the Spokane Chiefs edged the Tri-City Americans 2-1 in Western Hockey League action.

On the ice together for the first time since the World Junior Championships, Spokane's Dustin Tokarski bested Tri-City's Chet Pickard by one save as Drayson Bowman scored the lone shootout marker for the Chiefs (27-14-0-3).

All of the scoring during regulation was in the second period as Brendan Shinnimin put the Americans (31-12-0-3) on the board at 8:54, while Ondrej Roman tied the game at 17:58.

Tokarski finished with 40 saves, while Pickard had 34 for the Americans, who hold an eight-point lead over Spokane in the U.S. Division standings.
