Tokarski stops 35 shots as Chiefs defeat Hitmen 4-3 in shootout

SPOKANE, Wash. - Dustin Tokarski stopped 35 shots, including five in overtime, in the Spokane Chiefs' 4-3 shootout win over the Calgary Hitmen Wednesday night in Western Hockey League action.

Drayson Bowman scored the only goal of the shootout as Spokane (17-9-0-3) ended the Hitmen's 11 game winning streak. Bowman scored the first goal of regulation, a snap shot on the power play from the right circle that beat Calgary goaltender Martin Jones.

The Hitmen answered at 19:17 of the third with a power play goal of their own from Michael Stone.

After a scoreless second, Tyler Johnson scored 52 seconds into the third period to give Spokane a 2-1 lead.

Calgary took their first lead of the game on goals from Brett Sonne and Paul Postma.

Jared Cowen's slap shot from just inside the blue-line was redirected in front by newly appointed captain Justin McCrae and Spokane evened the score at 17:37.

The Hitmen went on the power play with 45-seconds remaining in regulation and had the man advantage carry over into overtime. The Chiefs took another penalty 1:07 into the extra period but Tokarski couldn't be beat.

Jones made 23 saves for Calgary (24-4-1-1).
