Columbus Blue Jackets coach Todd Richards will coach the United States at the 2015 IIHF World Championship in the Czech Republic next month, USA Hockey announced Monday.

Richards will be joined by Dan Bylsma and Greg Carvel, who will serve as assistants.

Richards has coached the Blue Jackets the past four seasons, leading them to the Stanley Cup Playoffs last season. Columbus failed to qualify for the playoffs this season but was one win shy of the Blue Jackets record for wins (43, 2013-14) despite losing many key players to injury.

This is the third time Richards will represent the United States in international competition. He was as an assistant coach for the U.S. at the 2014 Sochi Olympics and at the 2010 World Championship.

Bylsma, who was the U.S. coach in Sochi, last coached in the NHL with the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2013-14 season. Bylsma won a Stanley Cup with Pittsburgh in 2009 and won the Jack Adams Award as the League's top coach in 2011.

Carvel is coach at St. Lawrence University. He was named the Tim Taylor Award winner this season as the top coach in the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference. This will be Carvel's first time working as a coach with USA Hockey.
