Brian Boyle Today Show

Two hosts from "The Today Show" hit the ice with the New Jersey Devils for an important public service announcement about checking.

But it's not the type of checking you may think.
Devils forward Brian Boyle and hosts Al Roker and Craig Melvin filmed a witty public service announcement reminding men to have their prostate checked.
Melvin was named spokesperson for the Prostate Cancer Foundation, and one of the first orders of business was cutting a fun new promo with the Devils.
In the spot, Roker and Melvin are rookies and meet Boyle, a
cancer survivor himself
, at Prudential Center for some pointers.

The gag turns out to be that Melvin doesn't need any pointers. He (well, his stand-in) flies around the ice handing out all sorts of body checks to assorted Devils.
"The Today Show" was happy to share some of the outtakes as well. These included buses, trucks and sirens wailing in the background of takes and two amateurs trying to put on full hockey gear.

While the ad is funny, the message is serious. One in nine men is diagnosed with prostate cancer, but the disease has a 99 percent cure rate among those who get checked.
