On Veterans Day, the team from the nation's capital didn't forget to pay its respects.

Washington Capitals forward T.J. Oshie and defenseman Karl Alzner took some extra time to shake the hands of military veterans being honored on the United Center ice in Chicago just before their game against the Chicago Blackhawks on Friday night.

Oshie and Alzner skated up to the side of the carpet where the veterans were walking off the ice and shook every hand they could.

And, because it is 2016, of course one of the honorees got a great selfie with Oshie on the way out.

Military members were being honored all around the NHL before Friday's games.
