Timmins, Skinner each score 2 as Kitchener opens with 4-2 win over Plymouth @NHLdotcom

KITCHENER, Ont. - Scott Timmins and Jeff Skinner each scored twice as the defending OHL-champion Kitchener Rangers opened their season Friday with a 4-2 win over the Plymouth Whalers.

Timmins opened the scoring for Kitchener (1-0-0-0) with a pair of power-play goals 1:50 apart at the end of the first period. Skinner extended the Rangers' lead to 4-0 with goals six minutes apart in the second period. RJ Mahalak had two goals for Plymouth (0-1-0-0).

Parker Van Buskirk stopped 25 shots for the Rangers.

Matt Hackett made 30 saves for the Whalers.
