WINDSOR, Ont. - Scott Timmins scored his 30th and 31st goals of the season as the streaking Windsor Spitfires beat the Mississauga St. Michaels Majors 5-3 in Ontario Hockey League action Thursday.
Andrei Loktionov had goal and an assist while Lane MacDermid and Harry Young also scored for the Spitfires (43-5-0-1), who extended their winning streak to a season-high 14 games.
Jesse Messier opened the scoring in the game with his 11th of the season on a Mississauga power play before MacDermid, Loktionov and Timmins scored to put Windsor up 3-1 after 20 minutes. The Spitfires outshot the Majors 20-5 in the opening period.
David Corrente scored the Majors' second goal of the game on a two-man advantage late in the third period before Jordan Mayer scored to cut the Spitfires' lead to 5-3 with just over five minutes left in the game.
Ryan Ellis and Greg Nemisz both had two assists for Windsor while William Wallen had a pair of helpers for Mississauga (25-20-1-2).
Andrew Engelage made 22 saves enroute to picking up the win in net for the Spitfires while Chris Carozzi made 38 stops at the other end.
The win boosted the Spitfires' record to 17-2 against Eastern Conference teams and was Windsor's second win in two games against Mississauga this season.
