Tim Stuetzle pass

Tim Stuetzle, the No. 3 pick by the Ottawa Senators in the 2020 NHL Draft, had surgery on his arm Thursday and will be out 6-8 weeks.

The 18-year-old forward was injured on Monday training with Manheim of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga, Germany's top professional league.
"He had successful surgery today," Senators general manager Pierre Dorion said Thursday. "I know our medical staff spoke to him directly. Everything is positive, and we look forward to him joining Mannheim in 6-8 weeks and at the same time, having him play for the Ottawa Senators in the upcoming season."
The 2020-21 NHL regular season is targeted to begin Jan. 1, 2021. The estimated timing for the start of training camp will be announced at a later date.
"According to the coach, Pavel Goss, who I spoke with after practice, he said it was like two players bumping into each other, accidentally, where maybe it may have been a little unlucky with the angles," Mannheim general manager Axel Alavaara told NHL.com Tuesday. "Right now, there's so much uncertainty. We don't know when our league (DEL) is going to start, that's for sure. We don't know what it's going to look like in North America, either. But every organization, at this time, you need to be flexible and adjust to what happens."
Stuetzle scored 34 points (seven goals, 27 assists) in 41 games for Mannheim last season, his first playing in Germany's top professional league.
"I spoke to him earlier [Tuesday] and, of course, he's very down and low," Alavaara said. "When this happens to the kids who want to be on the ice every time, all the time, they practice every day and improve, it's tough. At the other hand, I told him it's been a long preseason for him. He's been on the ice since mid-July and knowing the draft was coming up and everything, so he should use this time now to recharge a little bit for the upcoming season and he can still work in the gym and be able to skate in the early future."
