Tigers jump out to big lead, hold off Cougars in 5-4 win @NHLdotcom

PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. - Medicine Hat jumped out to a 4-0 first-period lead but were forced to hold off a furious comeback from Prince George as the Tigers beat the Cougars 5-4 in Western Hockey League play Wednesday.

Wacey Hamilton, Joey Frazer, Linden Vey and Bretton Cameron scored goals in the first for Medicine Hat (31-15-8).

Alex Rodgers got one back for Prince George (9-39-2) in the second before Nick Buonassisi and Parker Stanfield made in 4-3 just over three minutes into the third.

But Matt MacKay pushed the Tigers' lead to 5-3 just a 1:18 later. James Dobrowolski brought Prince George back to within one with under three minutes to go, but the Cougars would get no closer.

Devan Dubyk made 36 saves to pick up the win, while Hudson Stremmel stopped 34 shots in defeat.
