Thrashers fire coach as part of management shakeup @NHLdotcom

ATLANTA (AP) -The Thrashers have fired coach John Anderson, moved Don Waddell to team president and appointed Rick Dudley general manager after missing the playoffs again.

Co-owner Bruce Levenson says the team decided on a major overhaul after failing to reach the playoffs. Atlanta has made the postseason only once since entering the league in 1999.

Waddell had been the general manager throughout the team's history. He'll now being responsible for business aspects of the franchise, while Dudley will take over hockey operations.

Anderson had been the team's coach for two seasons.
