Thorsten Kaye - A hard-hitting series with physical play and penalties

Blog 3 - Friday, May 1

Game 1 tonight! Everyone thinks the Anaheim Ducks are going to beat up on us. The penalties are going to make this series interesting. The Ducks have size, but the Wings are not all that small.  We've got a couple of big guys. If the Ducks take too many penalties, the Wings are going to take advantage and make the play.

The Ducks showed up in Round 1 going against the first seed San Jose Sharks. You know what they say though -  the Playoffs are a whole other season. So far, the Ducks have really got it done in the Playoffs. Fortunately, the Wings know how to throw that switch on, too. If the Ducks and Chris Pronger think they are going to just throw it around out there, they’ve got another thing coming.

The penalty kill is going to be hard. We’ve let in a few but Chris Osgood has a great save percentage. We are going to lose a few games but Chris Osgood seems to be showing up strong.

It’s a different team now. We’ve picked up a few and everyone’s healthy. The physical theories are there, but then again, everyone thought the Boston - Montreal matchup was going to be a bloodbath. This series is going to be hard-hitting, like it has been all year.

The Wings have lots of skill and there is a lot of depth on both sides of the rink.

I’ll be down at a bar in Florida watching the game tonight.

I predict the Wings in six!
