Thompson scores hat trick to lead the Sting over the Greyhounds 5-2 @NHLdotcom

SARNIA, Ont. - Brett Thompson scored a hat-trick as the Sarnia Sting beat the visiting Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds 5-2 on Sunday afternoon in Ontario Hockey League action.

Reid Boucher had a goal an an assist for the Sting (17-7-5) while Taylor Carnevale had the other goal and two assists.

Ryan Sproul and former Sting Joe Rogalski scored for the Greyhounds (14-13-3).

Brandon Maxwell got the win stopping 21 shots, while Jack Campbell took the loss giving up all five goals on 27 shots.

Sarnia went 3-for-7 on the power play as Sault Ste. Marie went 1-for-4.

The Sting announced that defenseman and Phoenix Coyotes first-round pick Connor Murphy will make his OHL debut Friday night, at home against the Erie Otters.
