Third-period burst lifts Stars past Lightning @NHLdotcom

The Dallas Stars scored three times in a 2:19 span of the third period to defeat the Tampa Bay Lightning 6-3 in a preseason game at American Airlines Center on Saturday.

Cole Ully (4:59), Tyler Seguin (6:47) and Brendan Ranford (7:18) broke a 3-3 tie.

Slater Koekkoek scored for Tampa Bay 2:01 into the third period to tie it 3-3.

Seguin had two goals and an assist, and Patrick Sharp, Esa Lindell and Ranford each had a goal and an assist for Dallas.

Goalie Antti Niemi, in his first preseason action for the Stars, made 16 saves.

Jonathan Drouin had a goal and an assist for Tampa Bay. Ray Emery made 19 saves.
