Mark Stone, Zach Smith, and Jean-Gabriel Pageau scored for the Senators, who have outscored the Isles 9-2 this season.

The Islanders, who were shutout for the 2nd time this season (November 14 vs. Tampa Bay), fall to 7-2-2 under Interim Coach Doug Weight. Ottawa is 9-4-2 in their last 15.

The loss drops the Isles three points behind Ottawa and four points behind Boston, who hold the 2nd wild card spot. The Isles hold three games in hand on Ottawa and four games in hand on Boston.
