Terry scores hat trick as Plymouth boots Sarnia from playoffs with 8-1 rout

PLYMOUTH, Mich. - Chris Terry scored a hat trick as the Plymouth Whalers finished off the Sarnia Sting in decisive fashion Saturday night with an 8-1 drubbing in Ontario Hockey League playoff action.

All three of Terry's goals came in a six-goal second period for Plymouth, which will face the first-place Windsor Spitfires in the Western Conference semifinals.

After being held off the scoresheet in the opening game - a 2-0 loss - the Whalers outscored Sarnia 21-4 in four straight victories to take the series.

Kaine Geldart, AJ Jenks, Ryan Hayes, Joe Gaynor and Beau Schmitz all scored for Plymouth, which also got three assists from Leo Jenner and a pair from Tyler Seguin.

In goal, Matt Hackett made 27 saves for the win, only allowing Mark Katic's goal near the end of the second period.

Sting starter Dan Spence allowed six goals on 22 shots before being replaced by Shayne Campbell, who stopped 12 of 14 in relief.
