Telegan has three-point night as Saginaw Spirit sink Plymouth Whalers 5-2 @NHLdotcom

SAGINAW, Mich. - The Saginaw Spirit scored three first period goals and never looked back as they beat the Plymouth Whalers 5-2 in Ontario Hockey League play Friday night.

Ivan Telegan had a goal and two assists for Saginaw (26-22-6). Jordan Skellett and Jordan Hill notched a goal and an assist each, while Peter Hermenegildo and Jordan Szwarz rounded out the scoring. Josh Shalla added a pair of assist.

Robbie Czarnik and Jamie Devane replied for Plymouth (32-22-2).

The Whalers out-shot the Spirit by a wide margin, 44-27, but fell behind 4-0.

Edward Pasquale stopped 42 of 44 shots for Saginaw. Matt Hackett started in goal for the Whalers but was pulled after allowing 3 goals on only 5 shots. Scott Wedgewood relieved and went the distance with 19 saves on 22 shots.
